I am keen to return to Tibet, if China gives the green light:Dalai Lama

TAWANG, Apr 8: The Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama who was forced to go on exile in 1959 to India has said that he will go back to Tibet, if China gives the go ahead. He said this while speaking to the media in Tawang after his discourse at the Yid-Ga-Choizin which was attended by thousands of people from Mon Tawang, including three thousand Bhutanese and scores of people from Europe and elsewhere.

The Dalai Lama, who gave up his political power in 2011, said that he is keen to return to Tibet and that he is not seeking independence from China. Over the years, His Holiness has called for autonomy for Tibet within the Chinese Union which he reiterated on Saturday in Tawang. He however said that present Chinese government is very negative in its approach.

He said that he has come to Arunachal as an spiritual leader of the followers of Tibetan Buddhism and that it was nothing political.

On the issue of the reincarnation, he said that it was not for China to decide who becomes the next Dalai Lama. "No body knows when and where the next Dalai Lama will reincarnate", he said. He dismissed the Chinese claim as "nonsense and illogical."

For China to claim that the next Dalai Lama will be born in China, the Chinese govt has to first accept the theory of reincarnation, he said.

He further said that common Chinese citizens have the right to know the reality in Tibet before the Govt forces them to jump to a conclusion. "It was morally wrong for the Chinese govt to feed wrong information about the cause and situation of the Tibetan in China," His Holiness said. For years, China has maintained that His Holiness is a separatist which has been out rightly rejected by the Tibetans.

The Dalai Lama further said that it was important for the world to realise the importance of the Ecology of Tibetan plateau while adding that protection of environment is extremely important.

He further called for protection of Tibetan language and culture.

His Holiness also recollected his 1959 escape to India. "I sent political officers to Bhutan and India. It was India who welcomed and offered me a place", he said.

The Nobel laureate further said that he is committed to promote human values, compassion and religious harmony.

Earlier, His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama taught the thirty-seven practices of Boddhisattavas and the middle volume of the stages of meditation to the devotees at the Yid Ga Choizin Monastery ground.

Welcoming the Dalai Lama to his home district, Chief Minister Pema Khandu also announced that in order to carry forward rationale thinking and scientific analysis of Buddhist teachings, a better infrastructure would be built at Yid-Ga Choizin and converted to a centre for Buddhist learning.

Hailing His Holiness as the world wide apostle of peace, Pema said he has been for all the time, a strong ambassador of non-violence and it is therefore rightly said that His Holiness is to the 21st Century what Gandhiji was to the 20th century.

"The world today requires the divine presence of Your Holiness more so in the present day when it is being torn apart by hatred and violence in many parts," Pema said.

Reminding the Dalai Lama that Tawang is the birthplace of His Holiness, the VI Dalai Lama Gyawa Tenzing Gyatso and an important seat of Buddhist Dhamma, the Chief Minister submitted that the people of the region wish that a Kalachakra Initiation by His Holiness be held at Tawang in the coming years.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that His Holiness would make many more such visits to the state and assured all out cooperation by the people. He also expressed gratitude to the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Tibetan Administration for facilitating the visit of His Holiness to Arunachal Pradesh.

Present on the occasion were eminent Rimpoches, Monks and Nuns from near and far off places, Parliamentary Secretary Jambey Tashi, local legislator Tsering Tashi and several guests and devotes from other countries.

Meanwhile, His Holiness laid the foundation stone for a Government Degree College here amidst religious chantings. (With inputs from CMO)

Rationalization of teachers likely to be completed in May

ITANAGAR, Apr 8: The process for rationalizing the transfer and posting of teachers in the state is likely to be completed by mid May, according to an official release.

As a first step towards rationalization of transfer and posting teachers, the school-wise students' enrollment and teachers postings were reviewed in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Education Minister Honchun Ngandam here on Saturday.

Terming the problem of unequal distribution of teachers in the schools of the state as a long accumulated problem, Ngandam asked the officials of his department to meet the challenge and carry out the rationalization of transfer and posting of teachers for well being of the students and the state.

He informed that the rationalization of transfer and posting of teachers has the full sanction and support of all members of the assembly as it was unanimously adopted by the State Assembly on March 9 this year.

The resolution was adopted in the back drop of severe criticism of unequal distribution of teachers in the schools, particularly in remote areas.

The state assembly during its last session in March gave nod to equal distribution of teachers in all schools.

While many schools in the remote areas face acute shortage of teachers, the schools located in the State Capital and district headquarters have excess teachers. The quality of education in the schools located in the remote areas has declined considerably due to the shortage of teachers, informed Secretary (Education) Bidol Tayeng in a release.

During the review, the schools with shortage and excess teachers were identified district wise. The exercise will be completed in a day or two, Tayeng said.

"It was decided that the guidelines for two teachers up to 60 students, three teachers up to 90 students, four teachers up to 120 students and five teachers up to 200 enrolments for primary level and up to three teachers for 100 students and PTR of 35:1 above 100 students in Upper Primary Schools will be followed during the process of rationalization," the release said.

Completion of Aadhaar enrolment and opening of bank accounts of students and teachers by June 30 was also emphasized and all the DDSEs were asked to complete the task before the given date.

The house also emphasized on the need to revamp implementation of the MDM scheme. Issue of non-functional schools was also discussed.

The DDSEs were also given a presentation on the proposed introduction of Smart Classrooms in 717 schools of the state from June this year.

Parliamentary Secretary (Home and Education) Pani Taram, Special Secretary (Education) Mitali Namchoom, Directors of Education, all DDSEs of the state and other officials were also present in the meeting.

Walk the extra mile for welfare of people and society: Governor

BOMDILA, Apr 8: Arunachal Pradesh Governor, P B Acharya called upon the officers to rise above their professions and walk the extra mile for the welfare of the people and the society.

The Governor who is at district headquarters Bomdila, on Friday exhorted them to change their mindset and reach out to the poorest section of the people. 'Many of the welfare schemes meant for the poor and the needy do not reach the targeted population. Unless we strengthen the poor and the needy and take them along on the path of peace and prosperity, we cannot strengthen the society, the state and the country', he said.

The Governor suggested the officials to focus on the youths as they constitute 68 percent of the country's population. He further called upon the banking sectors and the BSNL to play a pro-active role in realizing the cashless economy of the country. 'A combined effort by all concerned should be made to create awareness on Jan Dhan Yojana and other welfare schemes meant for the poor and the targeted population. We need to reach out to the people' he said.

The Governor also stressed upon the need for afforestation, breeding of yaks and mithuns (gayal) and preservation and propagation of medicinal plants. He also directed for increasing the number of state transport buses, taxis and for construction of jails.

Earlier, local MLA cum Advisor to the Chief Minister Japu Deru briefed the Governor on the history and profile of the district. He assured the Governor of strictly implementing all the flagship programmes in the district as per the laid down norms. (DIPRO)

Longte celebrated with traditional gaiety

NIRJULI, Apr 8: Stating that modernity has come with corruption, like gambling, illegal slaughter and reckless garbage throwing, Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan made a fervent appeal to one and all to fight against all modern evils.

"If Longte draws barricade between benevolent and malevolent spirits, let us take a vow to barricade all modern evils to join the new 'Develop Arunachal' mission", Dhawan said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of week-long Longte festival at Nyikum Niya Ground on Saturday.

Pointing out that peaceful living with communal harmony is the objective of the festival, he advocated that there should not be any fight for differences but all disputes should be mutually and amicably resolved, even without taking legal recourse. The Nyishis, by welcoming all communities to the state capital after donating land proved themselves dilwales for which they should take the lead, he reasoned.

"This unique festival, a mirror of the indigenous community, should not be allowed to lose its traditional aspects but celebrated with greater enthusiasm", Dhawan said and urged the Capital Complex Longte Celebration Committee (CCLCC) members, including patron Bengia Tobin, vice chairman Lokam Tajo and GS Pisa Tabin to maintain its human values.

Mass awareness on animals, cultivation and human welfare measures used to be conducted during this April (Lechar) month, considered pious by the Nyishis, said IMC Deputy Chief Councilor Tarh Nachung in his address. The festival aims at greater welfare of all living beings on earth, particularly humanity, he said, adding that the Nyishis believe and act by respecting time-tested traditional values. He also joined Dhawan in wishing the gathering a happy Longte.

Highlighting the festival mythology, CCLCC chairman Chera Taya said that the festival, as old as humanity, was started by the Abo-Tani, ancestors of humanity, to draw a ritualistic boundary to end conflicts between the benevolent and malevolent spirits to live in peace and happiness. Numerous events including competitive games and sports are part of the festival.

Terming the festival as unique for drawing boundary (longbe) made with bamboo poles (lemin), small and large wooden poles (longnek & longtup) without bloodshed and prohibiting donation culture by guests, Nyishi Festival Committee general secretary Amit Bengia said that the culture of the Nyishis is reflected by their important festivals like Longte, Nyokum and Boori Boot.

All festival venues in Nyishi inhabited areas are the assets of three festival committees headed by NFC as the parent body with Tarin Dakpe as chairman, he added.

Both the invited guests released audio CD - Chaling - of folk and modern songs of noted Nyishi male and female singers by Jeegam Production, inaugurated food festivals, traditional games and sports, including arrow shooting, before declaring the festival open.

"The festival aims at sharing our age-old traditional knowledge," anchor Bengia Jarmin said, while continuing to punctuate with information before melodious songs of Nyishi Art & Cultural Welfare Society members, while Runka Cheda rent the air and 24 cultural troupes presented mega dances (nwrnam) to leave the gathering spell bound.

The huge gathering also included CLC vice chairman Chera Sanjeev, NES (women wing) secretary Toko Yalam Gem, PRI leaders like Kurung Kumey ZPC Sangha Tagik, senior officers and elderly Nyishis.

CS flags off three cranes to check traffic violation

ITANAGAR, Apr 8: Chief Secretary Sakuntla D Gamlin flagged off three cranes (car lifting machines) in a simple ceremony here on Saturday.

Addressing a gathering of officials on the occasion, Gamlin informed that the three cranes were lying idle in the Transport Department for quite some time. The cranes need to be utilized and kept at the disposal of the ADM cum Chief Traffic Warden.

Expressing concern over the increasing cases of traffic violation, the CS said that few traffic violators are disobeying the traffic rules and parking their vehicles in no parking zones causing immense difficulties to commuters and vehicular movement during peak hours.

ADM Talo Potom informed that the three cranes provided to the Transport Department under the scheme of the Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highway (Road Safety) in the year 2013 remained unutilized till date.

Under the direction of the CS, the cranes will now be used to lift out vehicles which are found violating traffic rules and parking in no parking zones.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Director of Transport and Chief Estate Officer before the vehicles were taken over on April 6.

Among others, Capital DC Prince Dhawan and SP Traffic Togo Karga were also present on the occasion.

Erosion control measures as per specification: NHPC

ITANAGAR, Apr 8: The NHPC Limited, Subansiri Lower Project authority has claimed that the River Bank Protection/ Erosion Control Measures at downstream of the dam is being carried out as per the specification with regular monitoring and supervision at site.

"The NHPC has no intention to play foul with the sentiments of the people of Assam and is committed to the well-being of the people, especially those residing in the downstream area," the NHPC stated in a release.

Assam based students' union Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK), in a recent press statement alleged below par quality flood protection/erosion control measures by NHPC at downstream.

It further clarified that the photographs shown in newspapers and social media were of rejected pieces/ materials and these were not used in the work.

The students' organization also alleged use of low quality construction materials, which are not recommended by the NHPC.

"Works executed by the NHPC last year has brought satisfactory results arresting erosion, and the same can be verified from the villagers, where works are being done," it said.

The NHPC statement further said, "Erosion/ protection works being done by the NHPC in downstream is for safeguarding the bank against erosion due to differential fluctuation during operation of power house in lean season.

However, major erosion happens during monsoon season due to heavy fluctuation in river discharge which can be arrested only if dams are constructed, the NHPC said.

According to the project developer, "Dam is the only effective and long term solution for erosion control in downstream area."

Namami Brahmaputra...what about Siang?

Historically Brahmaputra is supposed to be one of the most important rivers of India. In Sanskrit, Brahmaputra means “Son of Lord Brahma”. Therefore amongst most rivers in the Indian subcontinent which have female names, this river has a rare male name. Brahmaputra is also one of the longest rivers in India.

Originating in the Angsi glacier near Mansorvar lake in Tibet, the Brahmaputra has different names in different nations. In Tibet and China, where it has the longest stretch, it is called as the Yarlung Tsangpo. The river carries out a massive U-Turn at Namcha Barwa and enters India through Arunachal Pradesh. In Arunachal Pradesh it is called as the Siang. The Siang river enters Assam south of Pasighat along the longitude of Tinsukia town, where it is joined by the Dibang river and the Lohit rivers. After flowing through Assam, the river flows into Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, the river is called Jamuna , Padma and Meghna before flowing into the Bay of Bengal.

In fact the Bodos, who are considered by many as the original inhabitants of the Brahmaputra valley call the river as the “Burlung-Buthur”. In many of their songs and writings the Brahmaputra is referred to frequently as the “Burlung-Buthur”.

The Brahmaputra’s upper course was long unknown, and its identity with the Yarlung Tsangpo was only established by British led explorations in 1884-86. Before this discovery, in the plains of Assam for ages the Lohit river was mistaken as the Brahmaputra. There are still many songs and references referring to the Brahmaputra as Lohit in Assam.

Recently, Assam conducted the so called biggest river festival of India called “Namami Brahmaputra” meaning in Sanskrit “Obeisance to the Brahmaputra”. It was celebrated across 21 districts of Assam along the Brahmaputra in its entire stretch from Sadiya to Dhubri. However, Sadiya is situated on the banks of the Lohit river and not Brahmaputra. Till today many news items cover the soon to be completed longest river bridge of India at Sadiya as ‘Over the Brahmaputra’! A few scholars also suggest that Parsuram Kund should actually be located on the Siang!!

The Siang river is also revered in Arunachal Pradesh. The Siang and its tributaries affect the livelihood of lakhs of people in central Arunachal before flowing into Assam. In fact there are five districts in Arunachal Pradesh bearing the name Siang.

It seems that that the great name Brahmaputra owes its greatness and legacy only in the plains of Assam. In Tibet, Arunachal Pradesh and Bangladesh the river is known by different names. Since a river flows continuously and belongs to everyone habitating the area through which it flows, can we initiate a “Festival of Siang” also in the same scale as “Namami Brahmaputra”? After all, only after passing through Arunachal Pradesh as Siang, the river is known as Brahmaputra!! (The writer is a retired Group Captain of Indian Air Force)

Library activities help to build self-confidence: DC

Lohit Libraries awards presented

TEZU, Apr 8: "The Lohit Youth Libraries greatly contributed to build self-confidence in reader-activists", said Lohit Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf as he gave away the annual Library Awards to outstanding reader-activists and volunteers at the Bamboosa Library premises on Friday.

He said that comic books contribute a lot to the fun of reading as well as awareness and knowledge even in science subjects.Appreciating the volunteers who are keenly involved in the Library Movement in the region, the DC appealed to the Library Network to launch a campaign to reach out to all schools in the neighbourhood and assured all support for the same.

The Coordinator of Lohit Youth Library Network, attributed its success to the spirited voluntarism among book lovers and young readers, backed by generous patronage of Deputy Commissioners, Education Department, public leaders and several patrons across India and abroad. He also announced that the Network plans to start decennial celebrations from November 2017 to mark 10 years of the Youth Library Movement in Arunachal and appealed to all to join hands.

Library activists Keshilu Tayang, the "BHA-JAN" award winner, Kamlesh Raut, the Ranganatha awardee and Chailai Wangsu, library volunteer shared their experiences of active association with the libraries.

Jeenamsi Ngadong, the Sister Nivedita awardee for dedicated library services, talked about "I too had a dream" by the Milkman of India, Dr Varghese Kurien and said that youth, social workers and officers should find a book that could transform their lives. Other awardees, Anjangmai Mam, Animai Chikro, Bethem Marai and Solina Khambrai presented a recitation of their favourite poet Mary Ann Hoberman, while young Rehanso Boo delighted the audience with a crisp story telling demonstration.

EAC Lui Shiba, DLIO Y Riba, officers of DDSE office and faculty from Indira Gandhi Government College, library volunteers from Wakro and Roing and parents attended the programme which was organised by VKV Tafrogam Alumni Education Society that administers the Bamboosa Library.

In a separate function, Dr Rajendra Babu, library patron and HoD, Commerce in IGG College, Tezu, handed over 120 books as gift from Scholastic India to Bamboosa Library.

Jamoh inspects GSS Sika-Bamin

PASIGHAT Apr 8: Pasighat West MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries, Er Tatung Jamoh visited the newly upgraded Government Secondary School, Sika-Bamin and took stock of the school infrastructure on Friday.

He was accompanied by Deputy Director of School Education, Jongge Yirang and Sille-Oyan Sub-Division WRD AE, Oyin Tamuk.

Later, in a meeting with the school authorities and PRI leaders, Jamoh assured to sanction two classrooms and directed AE Tamuk to prepare the estimate. DDSE, Yirang also assured to make necessary arrangements for required number of bench-desks and also directed the school headmaster to approach the PHE Department to solve the water storage problem.

During the meeting, school management board members from Sika-Bamin village suggested shifting upper classes of the school (from VI to X) to a new location in the old village. The School Headmaster, SMC members and PRI leaders also spoke on the occasion.

The school was established in the year 1952, and was upgraded to secondary level under RMSA without any basic infrastructures, they said.

Meanwhile, Pasighat East MLA, Kaling Moyong attended the Sibo Village developmental meeting on Friday and assured to help the villagers by providing funds for burial ground protection works. He also assured to pursue the delimitation process for Panchayati Raj Institutions and funds for community hall. Moyong informed that he has already initiated steps for construction of a CC bridge over Sibo Korong replacing the English Bridge (constructed by the British before independence).

Moyong was accompanied, among others, by Block Development Officer, Omem Dai, Deputy Chief Councilor, PMC, Kaling Darang, and 38 Pasighat BJP Mandal President, Obit Tamuk.

'Press statement false, misleading'

ITANAGAR, Apr 8: The general public, Panchayat leaders and youths of Tigdo/ Yupia Panchayat have vehemently condemned the press statement purportedly issued by Tigdo Youth Welfare Association (TYWA) claiming that the project for improvement of approach road with construction of retaining wall to Middle School at Tigdo village, Yupia was undertaken by one Tungri Effa, and people of Tigdo village have extended support to him.

In this connection, the Panchayat leaders, gaon burahs, youths and general public of 16-Tigdo/ Yupia Panchayat held a meeting under the chairmanship of ASM Akin Tayum at Gram Panchayat Hall, Tigdo village on Saturday, and clarified that the claim made by TYWA was absolutely false and misleading and was issued without consent and knowledge of the youth members, PRI leaders and GBs and HGBs of 16-Tigdo/Yupia Panchayat.

The meeting held threadbare discussion on the issue and came to a conclusion that the project in question was never executed by Tungri Effa and no tender was issued in this connection, informed ASM Tayum Akin in a release.

The house resolved to fight tooth and nail against the alleged corrupt practice by Effa, who allegedly submitted some photographs stating that the project is almost completed.

The meeting observed that since the verification report claimed to have been prepared by the SDO Office, Doimukh on March 31 has been withdrawn by the issuing authority it (verification report) cannot be a basis for supporting the claim.

The release informed that following withdrawal of the verification report, the Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner wrote a letter to the Deputy Secretary (Power) requesting to engage and entrust the Executive Engineer (Hydro Power) Ziro-I Division to verify the project in question, but no verification has been conducted by the Executive Engineer yet.

Condemning the practice of submitting false bills to the authority for releasing the fund meant for developmental scheme without executing the project and ground level, the meeting further resolved to pursue the matter with the Chief Minister and any other competent authority.

The house also vehemently condemned the criminal act of burning down the Scorpio and half constructed RCC building of the President of Yupia Youth Welfare Association on March 2 last and took resolution to pursue the matter with competent authorities to nab all the culprits involved in the case.

The meeting also supported the demand made by the Yupia Youth Welfare Association demanding removal of Tungri Effa from the post of Chairman of Hydro Power Development Corporation Arunachal Pradesh Limited for allegedly misusing his power and position for personal gain.

ATCO calls for setting up Abotani Tradition & Culture Affairs Department

ITANAGAR, Apr 8: The first ever state executive meeting of the Abo Tani Clan Organization (ATCO) was held in a city hotel here on Saturday, where several resolutions were adopted after threadbare discussion, including creation of Abotani Tradition and Culture Affairs Department, construction of Abotani Bhawan, construction of Abotani statue etc.

In a release, the ATCO claimed that during the discussion, many intellectuals, community based organization and district representatives from various district participated and contributed valuable suggestions. After lengthy discussion the house also resolved to adopt the said topics in resolution form for early implementation.

AAPSU demands regular NERIST & NIT directors

ITANAGAR, Apr 8: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has sought the intervention of the state government in posting regular directors at NERIST and NIT for wellbeing of the students' community within 15 days time.

The AAPSU stated that the non-posting of regular directors has hampered both administrative and academic activities of the reputed institutes. In the present situation, many developmental activities are being held up and the academic careers of thousands of students are also affected, the AAPSU said.

"NERIST, a deemed university which accommodates students from the entire north east, and the NIT with students from across the country, should create conducive environment for academic excellence", the apex student body added.

Requesting the staff, students and faculties of the reputed institutes to cooperate with the authorities, AAPSU President, Hawa Bagang, however, raised objection to the non-posting of regular directors and running of institutes under the in-charge directors.

The functioning of such reputed institutions without a regular director is illogical and non-feasible in boosting academic performance of the institutions and students' community, the AAPSU said and served a 15 days ultimatum to the government in favour of its demand.

NSCN (K) hideout destroyed

KOHIMA, Apr 8: In a major operation by the Assam Rifles under the aegis of DAO Division conducted near Balijan village at Lekhapani, the hideout of the NSCN (K) was destroyed on April 6 last.

Based on specific intelligence input about presence of NSCN (K) cadres attempting extortion in Paharpur and Balijan villages, the Assam Riffles battalions of Changlang and Jairampur launched an operation and surrounded the hideout in the early hours of April 6.

However, the cadres managed to escape and during subsequent search, the forces found the hideout consisting of temporary hutments. The insurgents had been using the hideout as adhoc base for operations for terrorizing and carrying out extortion in the neighboring villages, informed an AR release.

College conducts awareness camp on public libraries

ZIRO, Apr 8: An awareness camp on use of public libraries was organized by the District Library in collaboration with Saint Claret College (SCC) here on Saturday.

During the inaugural session, EAC Lod Takar advised the students to become ardent library users, while DLIO Joram Taga spoke on the role of public libraries in spreading knowledge.

College Principal, Father Allwyn Mendoz highlighted the problem of reduced library visitors due to excessive dependency on internet for information.

Painting, extempore speech and essay writing competitions were also held for senior and junior categories and prizes were distributed to the winners.

NCC defeats Avon CC by 2 wickets

ITANAGAR, Apr 8: Nirjuli Cricket Club defeated Avon Star Cricket Club by two wickets in the league match of 2nd Ever Summer T-20 Cricket Tournament at Jote playground on Saturday.

Avon Star Cricket Club won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 114 runs in 19.4 overs after losing all their wickets.

A Kumar, B Billai and R Rajbhar scored 48, 10 and 6 runs for Avon Star Cricket Club respectively. Sandeep Kumar Thakur, William Dini, Licha Tehi, Techi Dorio took 3, 2, 1 and 1 wickets respectively.

In reply, Nirjuli Cricket Club chased the target in 18.2 overs and lost eight wickets.

Techi Dorio, William Dini, Kamsha Yangfo and Kanai Teron scored 25, 18, 17 and 13 runs for Nirjuli Cricket Club, while Chandan Kumar, Rakesh Kumar and Rakesh Kumar took 3, 2 and 2 wickets respectively.

The tournament was organised by the Rakap Youth Welfare Association.

DAPORIJO, Apr 8: A meeting was convened by the All Upper Subansiri District Contractors Welfare Association and the All Arunachal Pradesh Goan Burah Welfare Association, Upper Subansiri district, wherein it was decided that both the associations would take up the issue of road renovation from Sikarijo to Lida Village which is currently in a dilapidated state.

Both the associations have stated that no department has come forward to repair the said road for the past several years which is the lifeline for the people of four constituencies of the district. The associations have also sought cooperation of the general public for early renovation of the road.

Committee seeks arrest of fake account holder

ITANAGAR, Apr 8: The Bangtey Fatey Nikam Longtey Festival Celebration Committee has in a representation to the Minister for Home, RWD and Border Affairs on Friday, sought immediate arrest of an alleged fake Facebook account holder Tenjin Tating Mation for allegedly tarnishing the image of state BJP Vice President Tame Phassang.

The alleged fake account holder Tenjin Tating Mation had allegedly wrote in his Facebook post that the people of 19th Nyapin Constituency would boycott state BJP Vice President Tame Phassang from attending the Longte Festival at Chebang.

Dr Sah nominated for IBC Lifetime Achievement Award

ITANAGAR, Apr 8: Former HoD English of Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar and present Director General of the International Biographical Center (IBC), Cambridge, England, Dr Bindeshwar Prasad Sah has been nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award by the IBC.

In a letter to Dr Sah, IBC Research and Advisory Board Director General, Nicholas S Law has informed that his submission has been accepted and he will be rewarded for his achievements.
